Nach Invertia, einer Katastrophe, die die ganze Welt veränderte, entstand eine neue Menschenrasse mit besonderen Fähigkeiten: Die Genestella. In Asterisk, der Stadt auf dem Wasser, messen junge Genestella aus sechs verschiedenen Schulen in der sogenannten Festa ihre Kräfte. Dem Sieger winkt dabei die Erfüllung eines Wunsches. Der freundliche und etwas naive Ayato tritt in die Seidoukan-Schule in Asterisk ein, um diesen Preis für sich in Anspruch zu nehmen. Dort wird er jedoch gleich Hals über Kopf in einen Kampf mit dem Star der Schule verwickelt: Julis, die Hexe der Flammenpracht. Jetzt muss Ayato beweisen, dass er der Herausforderung gewachsen ist, denn wie soll er sonst bei der Festa bestehen? Basierend auf der Erfolgsnovel von Yuu Miyazaki und unter der Regie von Manabu Ono (The Irregular at Magic High School), erwartet den Zuschauer ein sagenhaftes Actionfeuerwerk, in der aber auch die sympathischen Charaktere und ihre Geschichten nicht zu kurz kommen.
