Die Leichen-Prinzessinnen werden üblicherweise vom Daigensui (Generalissimus) des Shingon-Buddhismus zugehörigen Kougonshyuu-Ordens erschaffen, indem die Leiche eines jungen Mädchens wiederbelebt wird, um Zombies zu jagen. Aus bisher ungeklärten Gründen hat unsere Heldin, Hoshimura Makina, wahrscheinlich nach ihrem Tode einen Pakt mit diesem Orden geschlossen. Nun ist sie dazu gezwungen, sich eine Treppe aus den Leichen 108 Untoter in den Himmel zu bauen, bevor sie in Frieden ruhen darf. Dabei steht ihr der Lebemann-Mönch Tagami Keisei, ein Mitglied des oben genannten Ordens, zur Seite.
