Yugo Hachiken will nicht länger bei seiner Familie leben und beschließt deshalb, auf eine Landwirtschaftsschule zu wechseln, in der die Schüler dazu verpflichtet sind, in Wohnheimen zu leben. Im Vertrauen auf seine akademischen Fähigkeiten sieht er in diesem Schulwechsel keinerlei Problem, was sich allerdings schnell als falsche Annahme herausstellt. Aufgewachsen als sorgenfreies Stadtkind, wird er nun mit der nicht ganz so bequemen Realität der Landwirtschaft konfrontiert und es zeigen sich schnell die Unterschiede zwischen ihm und seinen neuen Freunden, welche als zukünftige Erben von Bauernhöfen schon längst an die harte Arbeit gewöhnt sind.
